VDC/BIM Modeler (MEP)

Crawford Mechanical Services is an Arizona based (est. 2002) large-scale commercial and industrial Mechanical & Plumbing contractor looking for a VDC/BIM Modeler (MEP). Must be proficient in MEP systems and installations, using Revit, AutoCAD and/or other authoring software with 2-4 years of of BIM/VDC experience working on commercial construction projects.

SUMMARY:

The BIM Modeler is responsible for assisting in supporting all VDC projects for Crawford Mechanical Services. This includes, but is not limited to, creating and maintaining 3D models using BIM software, collaborating with architects, engineers, and other members of the design team and construction team. Review models are accurate and meet project requirements and using models to identify and resolve conflicts by running clash detection reports, conducting coordination meetings, collaborating with other trade modeling and utilizing reality capture for precise accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including other duties as assigned)

  • Model, coordinate, and produce dimensioned construction documents for one or more disciplines, must be proficient in MEP trades, using Revit, AutoCAD and/or other authoring software.
  • Coordinate your workload for one or more projects with VDC Manager(s)
  • Provide VDC/BIM quality assurance by reviewing project BIM standards, execution plans and design drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Participate in project VDC coordination meetings: spatial coordination of disciplines, gathering all disciplines BIM models including civil and performing coordination tasks in Navisworks, BIM360 Glue and/or other coordination software.
  • Conduct clash-detection and conflict resolution with the VDC and Operations teams.
  • Assist VDC staff in creating and implementing project execution plans, templates and standards and ensuring adherence to them.
  • Understand and contribute to the VDC coordination schedule by tracking individual responsibilities and providing progress updates.
  • Coordinate electronic file and information exchange through various online platforms.
  • Coordinate and communicate with VDC and Operations teams to resolve issues and request information from design teams.
  • Assist VDC and Operations teams in reviewing and resolving field issues during construction and updating the model and drawings accordingly.
  • Lead clash resolution and coordination meetings, seeing all items through to completion.
  • Use modeling best practices and company standards to produce accurate models.
  • Conduct quality reviews of modeled scope from others and confirm compliance with the contract documents.
  • Apply concepts from training sessions and lessons learned to facilitate project coordination.
  • Understand and implement VDC services in accordance with our standards and best practices.
  • Understand, and contribute as applicable to, VDC goals and company initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Not required but a plus to have BIM certification through a BIM program from local college or CM-BIM or Autodesk BIM certified.
  • 2-4 years of of BIM/VDC experience working on commercial construction projects
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and further develop relevant professional skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and coordination tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, & Navisworks
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and others as applicable
  • Understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Understanding of the basics of the construction management process (RFIs, Submittals, Shop Drawings).
  • Successful candidates will also possess outstanding communication and time management skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
