Crawford Mechanical Services is an Arizona based (est. 2002) large-scale commercial and industrial Mechanical & Plumbing contractor looking for a VDC/BIM Manager (MEP). Must understand the practice of architecture, engineering, and construction, with a very deep understanding of the mechanical, piping, HVAC, and plumbing trades.

SUMMARY:

The VDC/BIM Manager will work under minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Performs complex, significant project-related tasks by providing various CAD/BIM drafting functions for Engineering, Design, and Construction staff. They will work closely with groups made up of Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and Architects. This position works with the staff of all disciplines on incorporating subcontractor drawings into the design drawings. This is an office-based position that will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing VDC standards. The VDC/BIM Manager will provide teaching, coaching, and guidance to the BIM/VDC team by providing outstanding leadership ensuring successful outcomes for all BIM related projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· The VDC/BIM Manager is responsible for researching and standardizing VDC/BIM workflows across our design, construction, and Asset Management practice as well as organizing and communicating BIM technical information for a global approach across all business units.

· The leader must understand the practice of architecture, engineering, and construction, with a very deep understanding of the mechanical, piping, HVAC, and plumbing trades in order to support those professionals with the ability to standardize, support and present technology solutions. This includes sales/client-facing presentations and meetings.

· Maintain and develop standardized processes, document best practices, and provide for VDC knowledge sharing within the VDC department and throughout CMS.

· Establish Standards of Practice and Integrated workflows with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and Integrated Project Delivery.

· Coordinate schedules between clients, vendors, and our teams to ensure deliverables meet their time deadlines. RFI’s are to be processed in a timely manner and incorporated into all necessary drawings.

· Manage, lead, and develop CMS VDC staff including: VDC Modelers and VDC Coordinators/Detailers across the program. Includes performance reviews, management of Individual Development Plan, department meetings, and all the other critical elements that build a team. Identify appropriate resource needs, assign individual responsibilities, and develop department schedules to ensure successful implementation of VDC on projects.

· Work with Project Managers and Design Leaders to establish the VDC process for inclusion in the Project Execution Plan.

· Develop collaborative project workflows and processes with project trade partners and VDC staff.

· Provide VDC implementation oversight on projects; develop BIM Execution Plans; and calculate technology ROI and other metrics to IPS Business/ Ops Leadership.

· Update, develop, and implement VDC training programs for Designers, Engineers, Project Mangers, Cost Engineering, Schedulers and Field staff.

· Challenging current BIM/VDC practices, always looking to better the group by software upgrades, best practices, and leading forward-thinking initiatives.

· Liaison with IT and project staff to ensure functional and efficient hardware and software setups for team and on jobsites.

· Utilize Virtual Reality technology, Drones, and any new technology that will help or be required on a project.

· Use CAD/BIM software to aid in VDC tasks such as: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360, BIM Collaborate Pro, MSuite, FAB360, along with other relevant 2D and 3D software and devices.

· Collaborate between subcontractors, contractors, clients, and designers by coordinating regular meetings to discuss changes and various design aspects of the job.

· Work with Construction Group for Logistics plans for site and team coordination.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· 5-10 years of experience in computer assisted drafting, design, and VDC/BIM required.

· Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and installations.

· Experience with, and passionate about, design technology and skilled in its application and practices to increase user effectiveness.

· Extensive capabilities with MSOffice, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint Must have extensive knowledge of the nuances, features, functions, and limitations of Autodesk 3D/BIM Platforms, including experience with complex workflows involving these platforms.

· Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Design/Build, integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and other modern contractual delivery methods

· Proven successful implementations of BIM platform technologies.

· Understands the Construction industry and maintains knowledge of future trends.

· Understands project workflows from design, estimation, construction administration and coordination, and fabrication.

· Ability to work with lite supervision.

· Must have field experience in design and construction.

· Must have great organizations skill (juggling multiple jobs and files from multiple vendors) to be able to meet project deadlines.

· Customer service experience exhibiting strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well with individuals (co-workers, clients, vendors) at all levels.

· Able to deal with and resolve conflicts between contractors, clients, and the design team.
