VDC/BIM Designer (Piping)

Crawford Mechanical Services is an Arizona based (est. 2002) large-scale commercial and industrial Mechanical & Plumbing contractor looking for a VDC/BIM Designer (Piping). Mechanical and Plumbing piping systems design experience is a must. Construction experience is preferred and 2-4 years of of BIM/VDC experience working on commercial construction projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create working shop drawings of complex mechanical and plumbing piping systems using advanced detailing techniques from engineered documents.
• Coordinate shop drawings with other trades to support shop fabrication and field installation.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Superintendents, Suppliers, design team, owner, and field install crews, and shop fabricators.
• Facilitate problem solving using technology and collaboration with project teams, both internal and external.
• Coordinate your workload for one or more projects with VDC Manager.
• Use modeling best practices and company standards to produce accurate shop drawings.
• Conduct quality reviews of modeled scope from others and confirm compliance with the contract documents.
• Apply concepts from training sessions and lessons learned to facilitate project coordination.
• Understand and implement VDC services in accordance with our standards and best practices.
• Understand, and contribute as applicable to, VDC goals and company initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Field experience installing mechanical and/or plumbing piping systems preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of system constructability and proper means and methods for all applicable piping systems.
• Technical knowledge and experience with AutoCAD.
• 2-4 years of of BIM/VDC experience working on commercial construction projects
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and others as applicable
• Understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Understanding of the basics of the construction management process (RFIs, Submittals, Shop Drawings).
• Successful candidates will also possess outstanding communication and time management skills, willingness to relocate, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
