Bonnie Beery | Accounting Bookkeeper
Bonnie recently went on a mission trip to Africa with some family and friends, where they went to volunteer at a local hospital in Bukwo, Uganda. While there, they went around to the local communities and taught CPR to over 200 people. They are hoping these people will in turn pass these lifesaving skills along to others in their communities. They also helped out at the hospital organizing supplies, painting, setting up equipment and anything else they needed help with. “The people in these small communities are very poor but they are the happiest and most welcoming people I have ever met.” At the end of their trip, they enjoyed a one-day safari in Amboseli National Park where they saw elephants, zebras, giraffes, and even a couple of lions! “This was a trip of a lifetime and very rewarding; it definitely humbles you and makes you appreciate what we have here in the U.S.”
The Love4Bukwo Story:
Love4Bukwo Company is a faith-based social enterprise doing humanitarian work in the eastern Ugandan village of Bukwo. They are devoted to transforming healthcare and economic development in East Africa by introducing American medical expertise, education, technology, and partnerships in one of the most remote and medically underserved areas on earth.
Peter Ole-Sabay and Dr. Maggie Sabay left their comfortable lifestyle in the United States and returned to Dr. Sabay’s home village of Bukwo, Uganda, to provide the healthcare and economic development that their family and friends so greatly needed. They brought their two decades of American medical experience and compassionate care and their fluency in the local languages and cultures to offer high quality healthcare to anyone in need.
