Q3 2024 DRIVING MATRIX

Rich Chrisman, Safety Supervisor

Impressive! Keep up the great work!

We have 70 fleet vehicles! This quarter, we have only one vehicle in the red. This is not reason for alarm. We are still leading the way in safe driving, with one exception, which will be improved upon.

Safe driving behaviors are important both in our professional and personal lives. Thank you to all our drivers for doing your part to stay safe on the road.

The purpose of our safe driving program is to improve the overall driving habits of Crawford Mechanical employees. Assessment of driving is completed by our Field Logix system which scores driving habits based on a 0-100 scale with 0 being the lowest and 100 being the highest possible score. Points are deducted from drivers in the following manner.

Top Five Hazard Driving Dynamics:

  1. Speed Occurrences

Speed represents a count of the number of times that the vehicle’s speed exceeds a maximum speed limit. By default, the system will include any speeding event over 65mph in the count. If the vehicle is added to a maximum speed violation profile the new threshold will override the default setting.

  1. Posted Speed Occurrences

Posted speed represents a count of the number of times that the vehicle’s speed exceeds the posted speed limit for the street on which it is travelling. By default, the system will include any speeding event over the street’s posted speed limit in the count.

  1. Hard Stops

Hard stops represent a count of the number of hard stop events as determined by the tracking device based on an abnormal G-force reading when the vehicle is coming to a stopped position after moving. This typically occurs when a driver pushes the brake too rapidly after the vehicle is moving.

  1. Hard Turns

Hard turn represents a count of the number of hard turning events as determined by the tracking device based on an abnormal G-force reading when the vehicle is moving in a near lateral position too rapidly. This typically occurs when a driver turns a corner at a high rate of speed.

  1. Hard Starts

Hard start represents a count of the number of hard start events as determined by the tracking device based on an abnormal G-force reading when the vehicle is moving from a stopped position. This typically occurs when a driver pushes the accelerator down too rapidly after the vehicle is stopped.
